Hong Kong Student Breaks Record in Canada

15-year old Michael Fung likes to challenge himself. Last month he came to Canada for a leadership training program and recently successfully set two incredible records including a 156 km walk in 30 hours from Richmond Hill, to Niagara Falls, and also kayaking across Lake Ontario under 8 hours. With study and academics as his main focus in the past, he was able to set new records due to his mental endurance, training and development, and increased confidence. Striving to go Above and Beyond

As one of the top students at the Diocesan Boys’ School in Hong Kong and talented violinist, Michael Fung is an elite member and student leader at Monticle. Michael arrived to Canada as a humble boy with great leadership potential. He joined his first program at the age of 14. By 15 years old, he has experienced some of Monticle’s most challenging events to date. With the guidance and inspiration of fellow teammates and instructors, Michael thrived in his new environment and progressed above and beyond expectations. In the summer of 2011, during his enhancement training, Michael successfully completed a 156 km walk from Toronto to Niagara Falls in 30 hours, and set a new record by paddling across Lake Ontario in 7 hours and 55 minutes. His drive and determination is an inspiration to allthose around him. Michael strives to continue his achievements by pursuing higher academics in North America.

MARGOTT LEUNG
Fierce, Resilient, a Leader in Action

As a track and field star and black belt martial artist in Taekwon-do, Margott Leung is a bright young woman seeking for more challenges in her life. Margott first joined the Me3 program in Canada as a shy and observant individual, with a curiosity for adventure and excitement. Monticle’s Me3 Life Education program provided the perfect opportunity to explore various educational activities and experiential learning. Throughout her training, Margott has progressively improved in not only her communication and teamwork skills, but also her ability to lead and direct others. After the program, Margott applied her skills and knowledge towards a successful school campaign, which helped her ultimately become elected as President of the student union.
