Enhancing Education through Drama -New Component!

Monticle is excited to announce Me3 Foundation’s newest feature component: drama education. Drama Education will be incorporated into the program’s key learning topic of Social Intelligence in Leadership, Communication, and Media.

Social Intelligence is the ability to effectively understand and handle complex social relationships and environments. It is a trait shared by many of the world’s successful leaders. At Monticle, participants will explore topics such as conduct and behavior in different scenarios, social norms and social competence to enhance communication and presentation skills, and characteristics and mannerisms of leadership. Drama education, being one of the most engaging activities for learning and exploration, will bring a better understanding of these topics for participants.

“If I see, I know. If I hear, I remember. If I do, I understand”
                                                                                 -Confucius

Drama helps participants internalize what they have learned while increasing the memory and retention of their experiences. Drama complements Monticle’s “learning by doing” philosophy, and allows participants to enter a no-penalty zone to examine their ideas, thoughts and suggestions freely without repercussions. As an art form, participants can transform and express their ideas not just cognitively, but emotionally. Through this process, learning materials are absorbed by the subconscious mind and built into muscle memory.

Outcomes of Drama Education

• High engagement in the learning process
• Enhanced critical thinking skills or multi-dimensional thinking skills
• Enhanced ability to cooperate with others
• Better able to sharpen ideas by examining them in dramatic context
• Increased motivation since participants own and control their learning process
• Understand how to be empathetic towards others
• Enhanced paralanguage communication and interpersonal skills
• Enhanced presentation skills and creative abilities
